August/Sept. -- Bash the Stash / Bucket Challenge / Quilt Til You Wilt
In an effort to make the Bash the Stash more accessible to all, we are changing the rules to avail the prizes to all.
When you come Friday or Saturday and work on Bashing the Stash somehow towards make a Care Quilt, for every TWO HOURS that you are there, your name will go in towards the raffle prizes. This way members don't have to commit to two days of being there to win a prize.
I'd like to remind you all when you tell people that you are a member of East Side Quilters, our guild's good name is known for our giving away these care quilts to those in need. The members who work on these care quilts make ALL our members look good.
So please, think about helping somehow, not just during this Bash the Stash Weekend or our National Quilting Day weekend in March, but all year long.
You can help by: Ironing pieces that need to be cut; ironing seams after they are sewn; cutting pieces using either rotary cutter and mat or our FABULOUS commercial ACCU-Cutter or a personal size cutter; sewing pieces together; making up KITS for members to make a top; building a back for a top; layering and pin basting quilt sandwiches.

-- how it works
Members bring in quilting-related items only that they don't need anymore. Magazines and books are okay, as well as fabric, notions, etc. that you no longer need. Items are piled on the tables, and each pile has a brown lunch bag taped in front of it.
You purchase chances/chits, and can put your chits in the bag in front of any pile or piles you would like to take home with you. The chit has a number that corresponds to you.
Let's say that I buy 10 tickets with the number 7 on them. I can put them all in one bag, or spread them around among several bags. The more chits I have in one bag, the more chances that my number will be drawn.
Once everyone has a chance to place their chits, ONE chit will be drawn from the brown bag in front of each pile, and the person who corresponds to that number takes home those items. If #7 is drawn from the bag in front of (for instance) a stack of magazines, I'll take home those magazines.
You clean your house, and the guild benefits through the purchase of chits. You do not need to bring in anything if you don't have anything to get rid of, of course!
