Every year we make a quilt, which is typically machine quilted by our members, to use for fund raising. Thank you to the Methodist Church for giving us a place to stitch and store items! We appreciate receiving funds to pay for the batting for for 150+ quilts we give away every year.
Sometimes, if the raffle quilt is a group project, we all make the required blocks and work at assembling the quilt. Everyone is encouraged to work on our raffle quilt - it's a great way to learn ALL of the stages of making a quilt. If you're uncertain about something, get involved and ask questions.
On occasion a generous member has donated a completed quilt top for finishing, or a completed quilt.
Charter member Deb L. donated the raffle quilt for 2020, based on the pattern 4-Patch Stacked Posies, and quilted by member Rachel F.
Co-founder and charter member of ESQ, Pat P., donated the raffle quilt for 2019. Here is a partial view of the bed size quilt.
As 2017 was our 25th anniversary year, we selected black-white-silver as the color scheme, and the Bear Paw block that was used for our very first raffle quilt in 1992 (see A Bit of History on the About Us page).
The quilt for the 2017 raffle is a queen-size four patch in a streak-of-lightning setting, with an floral applique border. The drawing was held in the spring of 2017.
This quilt was raffled for the VFW in early June, 2016, and raised over $1,800 for the Post. It was won by a guild member!
The quilt was made using batik fabrics to honor Crickett, a former member who loved batiks, but passed away too soon.
If you wish to duplicate the quilt, block instructions can be found on the Files page.
We made a sampler quilt for the 2015 VFW raffle quilt. It used a quilt block of the maker's choice, any pattern, 10 1/2" UNFINISHED size, with medium to dark fabrics and white or white-on-white background, no off-white or beige; no juvenile prints, bold pastels, or 1930's colors.
